The standard way of naming Perl files is .PM for modules, .PL for libraries, and .PLX for executables.
PLX is a Perl Executable file often used for web applications run on a server, but may run on any system with Perl. PLX files can be edited using text editors with syntax highlighting. Perl was developed in 1987 and PLX tools are distributed under GPL.
Three programs are related to PLX files. They are executable and plugin files found on Mac, Windows and Linux. PLX files are not very common. Software is needed to open a PLX file.
