There can be multiple causes why you have problems opening RWZ files. The most common reasons are lack of proper software installed or file corruption. Here is a list of steps to troubleshoot and open RWZ files:
Step 1. Download and install Microsoft Outlook, which supports RWZ files.
RWZ files are Outlook’s rule wizard files. To export rules, in Outlook choose Tools > Rules Wizard > Options and select “Export Rules”. To import rules, select “Import Rules” and choose a RWZ file.
If double-clicking on an RWZ file does not open it, the file may be corrupted or improperly associated with another program. First ensure Outlook is installed. Then, double-click the RWZ file again to trigger the file association. If it still does not open, the file itself may be corrupted.
Other programs that open RWZ files include Microsoft Office.
RWZ files save Outlook rules for filtering email. For example, rules can automatically delete spam or file messages into folders. Outlook automatically maintains RWZ files.
Windows Vista, Windows 7 and newer versions store rules in Outlook’s personal storage files (PST files) instead of RWZ files. Older Windows like XP store rules in RWZ files in the Application Data folder.
