A SCAD file stores a 3D model. The OpenSCAD free software uses the SCAD file format for rendering models. The .scad extension indicates an OpenSCAD script file.
To open .scad files, use the OpenSCAD program. Or choose applications that support importing .scad files.
To convert a .scad file to another format: Use OpenSCAD. Render the file by selecting “Design menu -> Render” or pressing F6 to export as .stl or .obj. In FreeCAD, choose “File → Open” and select the .scad file to import.
The SCAD file format was created in 2014 for CAD files by Solid Concepts. OpenSCAD was then introduced in 2011 for 3D modeling. It uses .scad files for its model data.
To ensure you can open .scad files: Have appropriate access rights. Update your 3D modeling applications. Scan for viruses with antivirus software. Download incomplete files again if needed.
