An SMX file is a plug-in for SourceMod. SourceMod adds features to multiplayer Source games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Modders create SMX files by writing SourcePawn scripts and compiling them. The Source Engine develops games like Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. SourceMod customizes multiplayer servers using plug-ins saved as SMX files.
With Radiance software, the .smx extension denotes sky matrix files. A sky matrix file contains sky vectors for each hour of the year. Generated from DAYSIM weather files, sky matrices are used in Radiance to calculate irradiation.
To open SMX files, extract plug-in zip files. Upload .smx and .sp files to your server’s addons/sourcemod folders. Reload SourceMod so it detects the new plug-in. Configure the plug-in if necessary.
To compile, put the .sp file in addons/sourcemod/scripting. The compiler is in the SourceMod distribution. Or drag the .sp file onto spcomp.exe to compile the plug-in.
SourceMod mods any Half-Life 2 engine game. The default plugins customize administration. But there are thousands of community plugins.
I see this plug-in on a server. It makes players move oddly. I want to know where to find such plug-ins. Can you make me this moving plug-in?
When Windows doesn’t recognize an extension, you get an error opening the file. To open an unknown file, determine its format. Then install software supporting that format. If SMX files still won’t open, the problem isn’t the software.
