DIA files are associated with the Do It Again software to automate tasks. The files contain macros, such as mouse and keyboard events. These macros are used for saving and running automated tasks. Sometimes DIA files from other software cannot be opened. This could be to protect intellectual property or if they use proprietary formats. The file must be converted to a common format to be opened. For DRM-protected files this is not possible.
To open a DIA file on Windows, right-click and select “Open with”. Then choose a program like Dia or Microsoft SharePoint. Check the “Always open with” box. On Linux, select “Open with” and choose a program. On iPhone, tap Share and select an app. Saved files can be opened with the Files app.
DIA files use the Do It Again folder and have the saved task name. They are plain text files. Software that can open DIA files include Dia, Microsoft SharePoint and Spacetornado Software’s Do It Again. Windows, Mac and Linux can open DIA files from both desktop and mobile. These are not very common files but can be useful for automation.
If the file will not open, check the extension is DIA. Similar extensions may be used incorrectly. If no default program is available, a suitable software program will need installing to open or edit DIA files. Options include Dia software and the SharePoint server.

DIA files are drawing files created by Dia diagram editor. Dia is used to create structured diagrams like flowcharts and network diagrams. The saved DIA files contain XML compressed data consisting of lines, text, and curves forming a vector image. To open a DIA file, you need Dia or another compatible software. Although DIA files provide convenient storage, they may not work with other applications. To share with others, Dia allows exporting DIA diagrams to various formats like PNG, SVG, EPS and more.
Associate DIA files with Dia program to avoid errors opening them. If Dia is not installed, download it from its website and install on your computer. DIA file errors can also occur if the file type has no assigned program to open it. To fix, right-click on a DIA file, choose “Open With” and select Dia program. Check “Always use this program” to associate DIA files with Dia.
