INT files store image data using integers representing image pixels. They support alpha channels and non-linear formatting. Data includes mode attributes from graphics libraries. Problems opening INT files usually indicate no associated program. Double-click the file, and if no appropriate program opens it, install one that supports INT. XnView is commonly used.

Corrupted or unmatched files also cause issues. Check the file integrity. Then install a program supporting INT files from the list below. Setting the installed application as default for INT files should solve most problems.

INT files store SGI IRIS RGB formatted images as raw, uncompressed bitmaps similar to TIFFs. Supported on Silicon Graphics systems, common programs opening them include ACDSee, XnView and more. Use our INT file opener, converter and viewer tools to fix other issues.

Update your software. Only the current version supports the latest INT file format. Search the Bethesda Softworks website for an available update. Get the file again and scan it with antivirus software to make sure your INT file is not corrupted or infected.

INT files are compiled scripts for animating Fallout. They set object behavior on maps and create character dialogues. INT files have: initialization code; a procedure table; procedure and variable names; text strings; object initialization code; procedure bodies. Numbers use big-endian format.

The 42 byte initialization code transfers control to object initialization code and provides procedure return addresses.

You can use the Fallout Script Editor to compile SSL files into INT files. The game needs the INT files. To edit an INT file, open the SSL file, edit it, and recompile. Place the INT file in the game’s data/scripts folder to use it.

Programs that open, edit or convert INT files: Jargo Fallout Script Editor; Bethesda Softworks Fallout 1; Bethesda Softworks Fallout 2.
