The EMLX file format is implemented and developed by Apple for the Apple Mail application. EMLX is used for exporting emails. Other applications can open and convert EMLX files.
EMLX files associate with Mail Message files. Apple defined this format standard. EMLX files work with Mac OS and Windows programs.
If EMLX files do not open in Apple Mail, create a file association. Call the context menu and select Properties to see information on the file and associated program.
Associate EMLX files with the correct application. On Windows, right-click on any EMLX file then “Open with” and “Choose another app”. Select a program and check “Always use this app”. On Mac, right-click the file, click “Open with” then “Other”. Choose a program and check “Always Open With”.
EMLX files normally locate in ~user/Library/Mail/ or the Mailboxes/[mailbox]/Messages/ subfolder. Or in the [account]/INBOX.mbox/Messages/ subfolder.
