3D model file used by MikuMikuDance, a dance and rhythm game. Saves bone positions for a character’s model, giving it a pose. Can be used in a series of poses that make up a dance animation (.VMD file).
MikuMikuDance Vocaloid Pose Data (VPD) files contain a 3D character’s bone positions which define the character’s pose. A VMD dance animation file used by MikuMikuDance often uses multiple VPD poses. These poses are a fundamental building block for dance animations and character movements within MikuMikuDance.
To open a VPD file, MikuMikuDance itself is the most straightforward option. With at least one model loaded, click File, then “Load Pose Data.” Select the desired file to load. Other programs that open VPD files include Windows MikuMikuDance and File Viewer Plus.
VPD files are indispensable for MikuMikuDance as they allow users to save time when animating models or posing for screenshots. They provide preset bone positioning for a single pose instead of a series through each frame like in VMD files.
