The XLA file format adds modules and extra functions to Excel. XLA files provide additional tools to Excel spreadsheets. They are supported in Excel 2007 or later versions. XLA files are based on binary data format. Some XLA files, like Solver or Analysis ToolPak, come pre-installed with Excel. To activate these select File, Options, Add-Ins. In the Add-Ins window select Excel Add-ins, Go. Select the add-ins to activate and click OK. Users can install more add-ins by downloading or creating XLA files.
