PuTTY Private Key Files (PPK) store private keys generated by PuTTY. PPK files enable secure communication with parties having the public key. They contain authentication information, allowing PuTTY to recognize and use them. PuTTY is the main application for PPK files.
You can set the PPK file location in WinSCP by selecting Advanced → SSH → Authentication → Private key file.
To open PPK files install PuTTY. Check PPK files for errors.
