Type 2: Project File

The PRJ file extension is used to save project data and settings. PRJ files include reference to other files or projects. PRJ files are generic project files. They are opened through the application that created them. To view installed programs capable of opening PRJ files, open the Windows File context menu. PRJ files should not be opened manually except by the authoring application. Double-clicking launches a PRJ file.

Many programs save projects as PRJ files. If you do not know the program, it may be difficult to open a PRJ file. In Windows, right-click the file. Select Properties or Open with to view programs that can open it. Also, search the Microsoft Store. In macOS, right-click and select Get Info.
