SPP files are graphics projects created in Serif PhotoPlus, a photo editing program for Windows. They contain image data and metadata. The software to open and edit SPP files is Serif PhotoPlus. No other programs can work with these file types. To convert, export the SPP file to JPEG from within PhotoPlus. Then use a graphics editor to convert the JPEG to other formats.
PhotoPlus was created by Serif Europe Ltd. SPP files belong to the Raster Image Files category along with 522 other formats. They are mainly used on Windows devices and can be opened on desktops as well as mobile devices.
SPP files are commonly confused with other file types of the same extension used for different purposes. For example, SPP files are also used by Crestron for parameters data and by NMS for project files. However the main use of SPP files is for PhotoPlus graphics projects as described above.
To open an SPP file that is not associated with PhotoPlus, first double click on the file icon to prompt the system to assign a program. If this does not work, ensure PhotoPlus is installed then reopen the file. SPP files have a data structure similar to PSD files used in Adobe Photoshop, allowing layers and effects to be edited after opening in PhotoPlus.
