If the VWX file was sent by someone else, ask them to resend it. Errors can occur when copying that may render the file incomplete or corrupted.
VWX files can create 2D/3D drawings, model buildings and landscapes, generate reports and presentations, and share designs. VectorWorks projects require VWX files to store data.
The .VWX extension indicates a 2D or 3D image created in Vectorworks 2008+. Earlier versions do not support this format. Vectorworks provides flexible design solutions.
If a VWX file does not open in Vectorworks, create a file association. Right click the file, select Properties to see information about the associated program.
When double clicking a file, Windows checks the extension. If unrecognized, you get a message to select an app. This means no default app is associated with the .VWX type.
Update the application used to open .VWX files. Only the latest version supports the format. Scan the file with antivirus software.
Associate .VWX files with the correct application. The standalone Vectorworks VWX viewer is a free download for anyone.
File extensions may be hidden in Windows Explorer. Deselect “Hide extensions” to show them. VectorWorks projects require VWX files to store data.
