LRV files are low-resolution videos saved by some GoPro cameras. The HERO2 and HERO3 create LRV files alongside high-definition videos. LRV files use less disc space. So recording, viewing, and editing require less computing power than HD files. These files enable faster previewing and editing of low-resolution GoPro videos in MPEG-4 format.
To open/Play an LRV file, rename the extension to MP4 and save it with the original name or HD video may get overwritten. Then any app that plays MP4 videos can open it. Most professional video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro support importing LRV files. After editing, The LRV file can be replaced with the HD file. Changes can be applied to the main HD file before final rendering.
